Expo Gallen-Kallela

Myths and nature

Akseli GALLEN KALLELA is the figurehead of Finnish painting in its golden age, at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, and trained for a time in Paris.

He enchants us with his landscapes of snow, icy lakes and deep forests, his naturalistic vision of the "Finnish vastitudes".

He charms us with his symbolist evocation of the mysterious legends of the Kalévala, the national epic.

A masterly work!
