The ISAE-Supaero microphone listens to Mars The science of the first sounds from another planet

Group "Toulouse / Midi-Pyrénées"

Promoting ISAE-SUPAERO's space activities

In recent years, a wealth of space news, followed passionately around the world, has renewed interest in this sector. In 2021, one of the most spectacular events was the landing of the Perseverance probe on Mars.

ISAE-SUPAERO, through its long-standing collaborations with CNES, NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory and IRAP, and its experience on the Insight probe's seismometer, was fortunate enough to participate in this mission by developing the rover's on-board microphone.

It was a scientific, technical and human adventure. Just like this round table, which aims to give a voice to those who took part in the design and analysis of the first results, in order to convey the tangible reality of what it's like to build an instrument on board a space exploration mission.

Rendezvous on Tuesday June 22, 2021 at 6:30 pm with Baptiste CHIDE (SUPAERO 2017 PhD in Planetology ISAE-SUPAERO 2020, Postdoc on the Supercam instrument at IRAP), André DEBUS (Project Manager for French contributions to Perseverance at CNES) and Baptiste PINOT (ISAE-SUPAERO 2019-Doctoral Fellow in Instrumentation and Planetology at ISAE-SUPAERO).
